Political Pollution
The Political Pollution study, produced by online slots specialist A2Z Casinos, compares the international trips made by notable political figures in the UK, USA, Canada and selected EU countries to reveal their total carbon footprint. CO2 emissions were calculated based on leaders travelling via first class by plane to the closest airports in each destination, and travelling back home in between where relevant.
The data looks at international trips made by each leader in office over the last decade for the UK and US, and the most recent year of data for other countries and the Royal Family. Each leader's total distance travelled and carbon emitted was compared to the EU average footprint. It also compares figures to the suggested level per person so as not to exceed climate change recommendations, as suggested by the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Data was gathered from a range of sources, including the United States Environmental Protection Agency, myclimate.org and HM Government. All figures rounded up to the closest decimal place.
