Blog online gambling

In a recent statement brought forward by the new Tory government in Ontario, it has been known that online gambling monopoly will be ended and instead of that private companies will be welcome for wider and bigger online gambling market.

Ontario is the largest Canadian province and it is planning to abolish the monopoly in online gambling and open up this business sector to different private companies. In the beginning of April, the new Tory government in Ontario came up with its first budget. There was strong promise of broadening the scope of online gambling options for the millions of residents residing in the province.

Currently Ontario has only one locally authorized gambling site known as PlayOLG casino. This casino is operated by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. The plan of Tory government is creating a highly competitive online gambling market, which will definitely reflect the choice of the customers. Permissions will be given to private online operators who can register for licenses in Ontario.

Upcoming future of online gambling options in Ontario

Consultations with various industry stakeholders will be done in Ontario before establishing some kind of regulatory system. This system will be able to reflect all kinds of customer preferences and will provide excellent online gambling experiences. However, the burden on the online gaming business will not be much. Most importantly, necessary protection is also taken so that there are no problems. In the budget it was also mentioned that the Tory government wants Ontario residents to be able to purchase OLG lottery products direct from their smartphones or tablet devices. Currently PlayOLG Casino offers dedicated mobile apps for iOS and Android devices. Though lots of casino games are provided, the casino does not provide the ability of buying lottery tickets from such handheld devices like tabs and smartphones.

Budget of the Tory Government

The main focus of the budget of Tory Government was online gambling. This is because Ontario has plans of pushing the federal government so that their efforts are renewed in allowing sports betting when it comes to single games. In the currently prevalent law, there are great restrictions on the gambling monopolies on a provincial level. There are restrictions on parlay betting products and these hold minimum appeal for veteran and experienced bettors. In 2016, the last attempt was taken for overturning the federal restrictions.

There are also plans in the budget of the Tory government where more interactive gaming experiences can be seen in the OLG lottery terminals. However, not many details have been furnished as how this will be achieved. Casinos in Ontario which are land-based will be provided permission for actively promoting that free alcohol is provided to the gamblers. This means that the budget will allow each casino/venue to be highly effective in competing with the various land-based casinos in the United States.

Moreover, the Tory government is trying to bring back the time where restaurants, bars, golf courses etc. can start selling alcohol from 09.00am in the morning instead of from 11.00am. The government is also planning in allowing bars to continue selling alcohol to customers past the current cut-off time of 02.00am. Not only this, alcohol consumption will also be permitted in various public areas like parks etc. Also permission is granted to convenience stores for selling beer and wine.

More online gambling choices for Ontarians

Thanks to the recent budget of present Tory government that Ontario residents can start looking for different kinds of exceptional gambling avenues. It is true that there are quite large numbers of Ontario casinos which are available to the players right at that moment, but the private companies will offer more diversity to the overall online gambling field in Ontario. When these new developments will take control is just a matter of time now.
