The View Royal Casino Gets $20 Million Expansion
The owners of the View Royal Casino announced that there is a brand new upgrade being added to the casino, which they plan to reveal in the upcoming weeks. Plans had been developed by the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation in 2007 to expand the casino, but it was cancelled sue to the global recession of 2008 and the country’s economical state. The B.C. Lottery Corporation verified that the View Royal Casino will be the only casino operating on the island it is situated on. This is what urged the operator to open the expansion plans again.
The View Royal Casino’s expansion plans will be revealed during the View Royal meeting that will be taking place in the near future. The expansion will include an addition of 350 slot machines on the expanded gaming floor, more dining options within the venue as well as a large theater that sits 600 people. The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation’s stakeholder relations vice president Chick Keeling is pleased that the company has made the decision to move ahead with the expansion plans and is confident that the venue has a successful future, particularly citing the statement made by the BCLC that it will remain the region’s only local casino.
Thus far, no specific details about the expansion have been revealed, but it is known that there is a $20 million budget set by the company for the expansion and that there are plans on doubling the casino’s square and providing an expansion to both the casino’s gaming and non-gaming divisions. A modernized gaming floor and more games are part of the plan, along with providing various amenities for those who want to take a break from playing. The casino’s plan is to attract people looking for entertainment rather than just gamblers. This makes it likely that the expansion plan will focus a lot on the extras that the casino will be offering.
The announcement for this expansion comes after the Great Canadian Gaming Company has completed two other expansion projects on a few of the older casinos in other parts of the country. We can expect a similar template to be used for this project too, giving everyone a peek at what the operator has in mind. Although there is no confirmation that some of the same entertainment amenities added to the other casinos will be included in the View Royal Casino, it can be safely said that there will be quite a few exciting things in the pipeline. There are speculations that the addition of the theater will bring in live shows and public events to the venue once the project is complete.
The View Royal Casino expansion project is slated to begin sometime in 2017 and during this time, the casino will be in operation. The project’s contractors will ensure that the casino’s current customers will experience a minimal amount of disruption. If it is kept on schedule, the project will be finalized in the early part of 2018, which means it has a 2-year deadline from now.
