Nevada Casinos Look Set To Break Revenue Records
November 2021 saw Nevada’s gambling venues set a new record for the most consecutive months of claiming over $1 billion from players, as per data from the Nevada Gaming Control Board. In that month alone, casinos in Nevada reported win revenues of $1.32 billion. This was an improvement from the $1.22 billion recorded in October 2021.
November’s figures came within a hair’s breadth of the all-time monthly record of $1.36 billion that was set in July 2021.
Over half of these impressive takings were generated by the Las Vegas Strip, which contributed $755 million to the total, more than doubling its figures from the same month the previous year.
Clark County casinos recorded a total of $1.16 billion in December 2021 with the state collecting $93.55 million in percentage fees from the taxable revenue.
Michael Lawton, who is a senior economist with Nevada’s Gaming Control Board, shared that he anticipates that 2021 will surpass Nevada’s 2007 record for annual casino winnings with the state’s casinos falling only $550 million short of the record at last count.
Lawton added that the gambling industry in the state had benefitted greatly from what he described as “healthy consumer savings, the sustained rebound of leisure travel and the return of international flights (other than Canada and Mexico), which allowed vaccinated foreign nationals to travel to the United States,” over the past year.
He also shared that spending had been boosted by the resumption of public events like concerts and conventions, with big names like Sting and the Rolling Stones pulling large crowds alongside highly anticipated boxing matches and football games.
