Rules For Age And Identity Checking Becomes Effective In The UK IGaming Scene
The UKGC licensed iGaming operators will now have to abide by the new rules for age and identity verification. This is now mandatory for playing in the online casinos. The much publicized law amendment first made headlines in March and now even free slot games will also need age verification on each site featuring these.
These changes have been made active to thwart under age gambling menace on iGaming operator sites. The players will also need to verify the age and identity prior to receiving any promotional bonuses and making deposits at the iGaming sites.
The Remote Gambling Association’s Chief Executive, Wes Himes said the new verification rules will make things better for the customers. They can be assured of fair play and the menace of underage gaming will be curbed to a large extent. In future, such regulations may be implemented into related online gaming arenas.
However, not everyone is an upbeat as him on the new verification laws for online gaming. The industry already has laws to ensure underage gaming is not encouraged- they feel. The new law may actually act as another hurdle. This may actually slow down growth of the country’s iGaming industry.
The KYC process which is now effective requires the players to give their identification details before they can start playing at these sites. This will help them in withdrawing funds without running into hurdles and getting prize money.
However, there is no denying these new rules and identification norms will affect the operator’s bottom line. This will be the case during large events like the Grand National. The new law has its advantages for sure, but it will lengthen the procedure. Earlier, the players could play and provide the KYC documents afterwards. It is expected that the operators will require some time to adapt to the changed norms and a few teething troubles are expected!
