Wazdan West Virginia

Malta-based iGaming provider Wazdan has recently reached a new milestone in its North American expansion push by receiving approval for a license from the West Virginia Lottery to conduct its business in the state. The company is now the fifth operator offering iGaming content in the state.

Wazdan entered the US market after securing a license to operate in New Jersey’s online gaming market earlier in 2021. The brand will now also offer its content to the West Virginia market, including top-performing titles such as Lucky Reels, Relic Hunters and Space Spins.

Raring to Go

Wazdan’s CEO Michal Imiolek spoke out about the new development in an official company statement, saying,

“The U.S. market continues to hit incredible heights and it’s a market we’ve already enjoyed some success in. Gaining our West Virginia license is an important milestone for us, and we’re extremely eager to see what we can accomplish in the state. With so much more on the horizon for us in North America, it is a hugely exciting time for Wazdan, and we look forward to achieving even more in the U.S.

Wazdan is currently in the process of obtaining operator licenses for Michigan and Pennsylvania.

West Virginia’s iGaming Journey

West Virginia’s regulated iGaming space opened up in July 2020, making it the fourth state to allow online gaming, following Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Aside from Wazdan, DraftKings, BetMGM, BetRivers and WynnBET are also licensed to offer online casino real money gaming in West Virginia.

West Virginia online gaming took in wagers amounting to $197.8 million in October, down 14.8% from its $232.1 million intake in September. Where sports betting is concerned, the state took in $61.7 million in October, up 2.7% when compared to the $60.1 million recorded for the previous month.
