Live casino maverick Evolution recently announced the release of Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt, a live game show title featuring a flurry of first-time innovations for the company and the iGaming industry at large.
Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt holds the distinct honor of being the first live casino game that combines live casino and online slots-style gameplay and additionally offers the option to experience the game in Virtual Reality (VR) mode with a VR headset and controller.
The new title is adapted from by NetEnt’s world-famous Gonzo’s Quest slot. Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt sees the return of Gonzo, the intrepid explorer, who is on a brand new quest for riches.
This is the first Evolution product to employ intellectual property from NetEnt after the live casino specialist acquired the developer late in 2020 in a $2.2 billion deal.
In the new game, Gonzo‘s treasure-hunting mission finds him facing a giant wall constructed of 70 stones. Evolution highlighted a particular feature, where the explorer “comes alive” in the form of an augmented reality character alongside the live show hosts at Evolution’s studios and the players in the treasure hunt.
Todd Haushalter, Evolution’s Chief Product Officer, commented on the new release, saying that this is the company’s first release that sees the best of NetEnt and Evolution brought together to create thrilling content.
He further stated that he is excited to work with NetEnt’s “amazing” intellectual property and that this first release is “taking the most famous character in slots and bringing him to live casino.”
Haushalter also explained that this is the first live game to offer players “such a high degree of control over their game strategy and the potential outcome.” He further stated that “unlike other games where the result is the result and there is nothing you can do about it, in Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt players take control as they go hunting for their prizes.”
The CPO added that the game’s creation and launch demonstrate the fresh direction the company has embarked on regarding its game show range, as Evolution seeks to diversify the definition of what a game show is. He concluded, saying that players can now experience a previously unseen level of gameplay control and interactivity that new audiences of Evolution’s products are sure to love.
